Alternatywne funkcje zabytkowych wnętrz kościelnych a mariaż ze sztuką współczesną

Magdalena Howorus-Czajka

The change of the historical-economic conditions cause the civilised societies to re-evaluate the managing of the historical monuments, and thus, to recalculate the resources used for their preservation. A specific situation can be observed while analysing sacral and post-sacral artefacts. In the article, the author investigates two examples depicting the strategy to supervise a historical sacral interior during its fusion with the modern art: the Church of St John in Gdańsk and the Church of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lubiąż. The monuments differ in the area they are located on; they are connected by the same tragic history and by a “resurrection” they are currently experiencing thanks to their cooperation with the modern art. The article focuses on the quality and specifics of these fusions?
