Use of GIS technology methods in monitoring of degraded lands (on the example of the north-eastern part of the Caspian Sea)

AbstractThis article discusses the development of a modern method for monitoring degraded lands using the example of the north-eastern part of the Caspian Sea. For such monitoring, modern geographic informational technologies are being introduced. In this study, GIS means a platform for organizing and analyzing data (comparing satellite images after processing) using various tools and software. The study shows only a small part of the potential of geographic information systems for visualizing an urgent problem - the increasing the area of degraded lands in Western Kazakhstan. This study employs an analytic approach of using ArcGis 10.5 software. The primary data source for the study was the available satellite images of various extensions. The results and the described research methods can be used in the educational process on the basis of school and university education, as well as in organizations of local and state administration for the presentation and development of plans to curb the spread of micro pollutants in a vast territory.
