Market factors influenced for air and HSR services. Case study at the route London - Paris

Abstract

One of the main factors influencing the economic development of the region, country and the world is transport. There is competition among transport operators at the same sector, and with other market segment operators. The competition is observed among railways and air operation too. They would like to carry out, not only individual passenger’s needs but also to gain higher market share and better financial results. The paper presents the functioning of two substitutable transport markets handling passenger transport at the London-Paris route and return. The aim of the research is to find out how railway and aviation operators compete in the markets to achieve market advantage. The market factors are basic purpose, the authors performed, analysed and establish two operators. For pursuing the purpose, the authors used reachable information from the subjects of the market. The main applied methods were critical in analysis of the data and the expert analysis.
