Kilka uwag o roli przedstawień Providentia i Quies w mennictwie Dioklecjana po abdykacji (lata 305-311)

Maciej Wojcieszak

In this paper I try to make some remarks about Diocletian’s coinage after abdication in 305. His monetary propaganda after year 305 was mainly focused on the images of Quies and Providentia, which is associated with elements of politics and religion, focused on combating the negative effects described as the crisis of the 3rd century in the Roman Empire. Providentia and Quies were symbols of calm departure and voluntary resignation from power, which took place in a peaceful and unforced way. Society, tired and devastated by the crisis of previous governments, got a clear signal that the situation has improved since Diocletian’s times.
