Abstract

The article is dedicated to the permanent prisoner of war camp Luftwaffe: Stalag Luft 2 Litzmannstadt in Łódź. The camp was set up in spring 1941. It served as the center for questioning prisoners of war, Russian Air Force members. The task of the investigators was to get from the prisoners information which would be useful in the battle against the Russian Air Force, and also to make use of the enemy aviation infrastructure captured by Wermacht. In case of Air Force prisoners from western allied countries dulag lufts were such camps. However, the distance from the camp to the front line was an impediment for the investigators. The plan of Stalag Luft 2 Litzmannstadt which was found in the collection of Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv in Freiburg i.Br. is an interesting source and also a material of crucial meaning for further learning the history of this camp. It presents the actual state of infrastructure in November 1941. Therefore it was reproduced and discussed in this article.
