Abstract

Social Media and crowdsourcing may have a real impact on spatial policies. Examples from different parts of the world show, that this form of participation is becoming more and more popular and effective. Out of statutory methods of participation in the process of spatial planning and city-management can affect the activity of citizens and their sensitization on the problems associated with them. Participation in the proces of it’s creation helps to develop adequate guide lines in lines with real needs of communities. Reaching the vast number of people should be a key in the process of spatial planing. Social media and crowdsourcing are becoming a new channels of communication with citizens. It is a lot easier than making a person come to the office. These methods reach the citizens in an aproachable way and encourage them to participate in the developement of the space they live in. The users of the space are the people who are aware of the problems, that architects, urbanists or governors may not see. Through social media specialists can gather data, analyse it, answer the needs of citizens, relate to their projects or loose conceptions.
