Wielowymiarowość postaci Tatusia Muminka w książkach Tove Jansson. Perspektywa biograficzna
AbstractThe article discusses the character of Moominpappa, who is argued to be the main character in the Moomin books by Tove Jansson. Though he hardly appears in the first volume The Moomins and the Great Flood, he becomes increasingly elaborate and sophisticated in the subsequent books, named after him: The Exploits of Moominpappa and Moominpappa at Sea. He is a round character, convincing and multilayered – he is a dreamer, a writer, a scholar, a narcissus and a fearless father. This complex characterization was inspired by the figure of Tove Jansson’s father, the sculptor Viktor Jansson, which is pointed out in this paper by juxtaposing selected episodes from the Moomin books with both Tove Jansson’s autobiography Sculptor’s Daughter and the acclaimed biography Tove Jansson: Life, Art, Words by Boel Westin.
