Wybory gubernatorskie w Jakarcie w 2017 roku a problem radykalizmu

Kornel Bielawski

The rise of radical attitudes is noticeable in the contemporary politics all over the world. There are two types of factors generating radicalisms: universal or systemic on the one hand and on the other factors typical for the given region and its cultural reality and current sociopolitical problems. Indonesia is also facing the problem of rising radicalism and intolerance which are being considered as a threat to young democracy in this country. Jakarta guberna torial election in 2017 was a significant event that made those challenges clear. The election campaign and its final result will serve as a starting point for a broader reflection on the problem of relationship between electoral behaviours and growing rad icalism in local politics.
