Julia Szwiec

The article is dealing with the problem of disabled refugees and related legal regulations. The first chapter presents various acts of International Law and Polish Law related to the refugees phenomenon. The second chapter of the article presents the situation of refugees, especially young people affected by different mental health problems. Disability means psychosocial problems that many young refugees suffer from. In the Article I am also showing the significant impact of receiving refugee status on improving mental comfort of people. The third and longest chapter is devoted entirely to the situation of disabled refugees. It is emphasized that these people are the subject of Refugee Law and International Humanitarian Law. I discuss three legal acts together with their provisions - the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Rule 88 of the International Humanitarian Law is also mentioned. The regulations enumerated above are presented as necessary both for the protection of disabled refugees as well as for their proper functioning in the society.
